![]() ![]() ![]() Regardless of the level of MTSS application and implementation, school psychologists remain presented with the difficult task of assessing a variety of students, many with intellectual disability (ID).Īdvances ranging from the introduction of new assessment tools designed to measure specific constructs to the mapping of the human genome and subsequent identification of genetically linked disabilities have both improved and further complicated the assessment process ( Munger, Gill, Ormond, & Kirschner, 2007). The shift away from the test/deficit/place model to a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) approach is monumental in many ways and recent literature is replete with studies and recommendations for adapting to and implementing this shift ( Eagle, Dowd-Eagle, Snyder & Holtzman, 2015 Utley & Obiakor, 2015). ![]() Over the past several decades the focus of the school psychologist has shifted in many ways, with none greater than their role in the assessment process. ![]()
